§ "That a sum, not exceeding £5,776,693, be granted to His Majesty, to complete the sum 1762 necessary to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1947, for the salaries and expenses of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, and of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, including grants, grants in aid and expenses in respect of agricultural education and research; eradication of diseases of animals and improvement of breeding, & c., of live stock; land settlement, improvement of cultivation. drainage, & c., regulation of agricultural wages, agricultural credits, and marketing; agricultural training and settlement schemes; the management and use of land required for forestry; certain remanet subsidy payments; fishery organisa- 1763 tion, research and development, including assistance to the inshore fishing industry and control of diseases of fish, & c.; and sundry other services. [Note.—£2,500,000 has been voted on account.]
