HC Deb 08 April 1946 vol 421 cc1637-8
81. and 82. Mr. Attewell

asked the President of the Board of Trade (1) why Footwear Control cancelled orders for Army ankle boots for the April and June quarters; and why no further contracts will be issued for the second half of the year;

(2) what increase in civilian pairage will result from the concellation of the contracts for Army ankle boots.

Mr. Belcher

I understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply that, with the end of hostilities, the needs of the Armed Forces are already adequately covered, and no further contracts will be placed. With regard to the second Question, I hope shortly to have the information my hon. Friend wants, and will write to him as soon as possible.
