§ 43. Mr. Laversasked the Assistant Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the fact that it is possible for telephone calls to be made in New York from mid Atlantic; and if he will take steps to arrange that facilities are provided for such calls to this country.
§ Mr. BurkeI am aware that telephone calls were made to New York from the "Queen Mary" during her last Atlantic crossing. The service was opened without authority, and no further calls will be allowed until the wireless frequencies required for the ship radiotelephone services have been made available by the authorities controlling their use. These frequencies are in process of being cleared, and it is hoped that telephone calls from the large liners to both sides of the Atlantic will be made possible in the course of the next week or two.
§ Captain F. Noel-BakerIs the Postmaster-General aware that at the present time the mid-Atlantic is one of the few places where hon. Members of this House and hard working citizens can find blessed relief from telephone calls?
