HC Deb 04 April 1946 vol 421 c1376
25. Sir G. Fox

asked the Minister of Education if educational grants will be made available to demobilised Service personnel who wish to qualify as solicitors or barristers, but whose preparatory training has been interfered with by active service.

The Minister of Education (Miss Ellen Wilkinson)

Yes, Sir, where the candidate comes within the general scope of the Further Education and Training Scheme. Up to 14th March, my Department alone had made 127 awards under the Scheme for legal training. It is normally a condition of the Scheme that a candidate should show that his further education or training has been prejudiced by his war service.
