HC Deb 03 April 1946 vol 421 cc1243-4
42. Mr. Willis

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation why no provision for a call at Prestwick has been made for any of the 14 trans-Atlantic Services proposed by the United Kingdom delegation for 1946, at the Dublin Conference.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Civil Aviation (Mr. Ivor Thomas)

The estimate of British trans-Atlantic services given at the Dublin Conference was solely for the purpose of assisting the Conference to assess the probable total volume of trans-Atlantic traffic. Accordingly, it was unnecessary to specify any United Kingdom terminal by name, and no implications were intended in that regard.

Mr. Willis

Can we take it that the announcement which has been made that there will be no calls at Prestwick is incorrect?

Mr. Thomas

If such a notice was made it is incorrect
