§ 35. Mr. Toucheasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether meteorological officers of the R.A.F., who are schoolmasters in civilian life, are eligible for Class B release.
§ Mr. StracheyYes, Sir, but it should be realised that a quite exceptional number of meteorological officers are teachers by profession and that we cannot accept every application for Class B release.
§ Mr. ToucheWould the Under-Secretary say haw many have been accepted?
§ Mr. StracheyI could not give the figures without notice.
§ 36. Mr. Hurdasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air if he will give an assurance that instructions have now been given to all commands that agricultural workers with one year's service are to be offered immediate release under the Class B block scheme.
§ Mr. StracheyOn 17th March the Record Office completed the sending of offers of release in Class B to all members of the Royal Air Force who are shown by their records to have been agricultural workers at the time of their enlistment, and who have served for at least one year. But it is possible that some men in the most distant units have not vet received their offers.
§ Mr. HurdWill the Under-Secretary pass on that excellent procedure to the other two Service Departments?
