HC Deb 01 April 1946 vol 421 c803
17. Mr. Willis

asked the Minister of Transport the priorities and the method of making application for surplus reconditioned Service motor cars and trucks.

Mr. Barnes

Except for a small proportion which are allocated to nurses and midwives, surplus motor cars reconditioned under the scheme agreed with the trade are reserved for badly disabled ex-Servicemen who need such a car to earn a livelihood. There are so many applications on hand and the supply is so small that I can offer no hope of new applicants being allotted a car. Surplus reconditioned trucks may he purchased without any permit from my Department
