HC Deb 24 October 1945 vol 414 c1990
7. Major Conant

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies in what Colonies and Dependencies is Income Tax still not yet levied.

Mr. George Hall

The Colonies and Dependencies under civil administration in which Income Tax is not levied are Bahamas, Bermuda, Gibraltar, Malta, St. Helena, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Dependency of Jamaica.

Major Conant

While thanking the right hon. Gentleman for that reply, may I ask him if he can say why a proposal for Income Tax in the Seychelles has been abandoned in favour of an export tax?

Mr. Hall

That I could not say, but if the hon. and gallant Member will put that Question down, I will look into it and give him a reply.
