§ 20. Colonel Stoddart-Scottasked the Minister of Labour if he is aware that the call-up of skilled men in the under 30 age groups from firms engaged on export business, without adequate replacements, is detrimental to national interests; and will he issue instructions so that the withdrawal of labour from such firms will be suspended until the position in each case has been investigated.
§ Mr. IsaacsCall-up on the present scale is an essential part of the Government's demobilisation plans and the procedure already provides for cases to be investigated and considered on their merits. I am fully aware of the importance of expanding the export trade and special arrangements have been made for protecting it from making a disproportionate contribution.
