HC Deb 26 November 1945 vol 416 c896
72. Viscount Hinchingbrooke

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether, in pursuance of the principles laid down in Cmd. 6658, he has ascertained from the New Zealand Government whether the repatriation of New Zealand Forces and the building programme have now proceeded to a stage at which discussions of migration can profitably be resumed; and what is the nature of the reply.

Mr. Parker

No further indication of the attitude of His Majesty's Government in New Zealand has been received since the issue of Command 6658.

Viscount Hinchingbrooke

Has the hon.Gentleman sent a message recently and asked what their present attitude is?

Mr. Parker

The Dominion Governments know our interest in this subject and we are hoping that, as soon as the New Zealand Government have been able to deal with the problems connected with their own men returning home, they will be able to discuss this matter further with us.
