HC Deb 20 November 1945 vol 416 cc203-4
15. Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power, if he is aware that his Ministry undertook to store 1,800 tons of wood fuel in the Metropoli- tan borough of Lambeth against emergency requirements during the coming winter, of which amount only 458 tons had been delivered by 24th October; and when he proposes to complete delivery of the total amount promised.

Mr. Shinwell

The arrangements provide for deliveries to this borough to be completed by 31st January next.

Lieut.-Colonel Lipton

Will the Minister in order to allay the anxiety of local authorities in the London area as to what the position will be between now and 31st January, when we hope the winter will be over, consider the circulation to these local authorities of something in the nature of a progress report of the deliveries of wood and other forms of fuel?

Mr. Shinwell

I have met all the local authorities in the London area and have explained the matter to them, and I am doing everything possible to step-up the allocation for London consumers.
