HC Deb 20 November 1945 vol 416 c223
42. Mr. Frederick Willey

asked the Minister of Labour why it is necessary, in making application for temporary employment in the Government service, to complete a questionnaire containing over 70 questions and to give such details as the colour of the applicant's eyes and the birthplace of his mother.

Mr. Isaacs

The form in question was agreed with all Government Departments concerned as appropriate for issue to candidates for temporary Government employment. During the war, mainly for security reasons, candidates for employment in temporary Government service were required to complete the form in all respects. Consideration is now being given, in consultation with Treasury, to the possibility of adopting a more simple type of application.

Sir W. Wakefield

Can the Minister say what is done with all these forms when they are filled up?
