§ 82. Mr. Walkdenasked the Minister of Supply and of Aircraft Production if he is aware that the collars with button tabs as now being supplied to the demobilised Servicemen are not now generally worn by civilians and are considered out of fashion by the outfitting trade; whether he will instruct the manufacturers to adjust their supplies of fashions and styles
34 in men's collars to present day vogue in men's wear and include Trubenised collars in the range of choice at all demobilisation centres.
§ The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Supply (Mr. Leonard)Collars with button tabs were originally adopted on the advice of the trade, but we are now making the Polo style of collars, as there appears to be a genera] preference for this type. So far as we are aware demobilised men are not asking in any numbers for Trubenised collars.
Mr. WalkenIs not the Minister aware that there is a cheapness about the collar being issued as compared with the raincoats, which are first-class, and are better than any civilian can buy? Why economise on collars?
§ Mr. LeonardThat is a matter of opinion. When the new design was placed before us we took immediate steps to comply with it.
§ Sir R. RossMay a Trubenised collar be deposited in the Library, so that we may see what it is?
§ Sir P. MacdonaldWhat is a Trubenised collar?
