asked the Minister of Food when he expects to be in a position to reveal the levels of stocks of food held in this country.

Whilst I shall keep the matter under review, I am not certain that it will ever be desirable for a country which will always have to purchase large quantities of imported food to reveal its stocks.

Is this another matter, the revelation of which will cause embarrassment to this Government?

It is another matter that might cause embarrassment to the country as a whole.
