HC Deb 07 November 1945 vol 415 cc1281-2
56. Mr. Douglas

asked the Minister of Food whether he is aware of the deficiency in the supply of orange juice for mothers and infants which has prevailed for some time past in Battersea; and what steps are being taken to make good this deficiency.

Sir B. Smith

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to the hon. Member for West Lewisham (Mr. Skeffington) on 24th October. I am advised that normal supplies have been available in the Battersea area during the last three weeks, and every effort is being made to avoid any further deficiency.

Mr. Douglas

Is my right hon. Friend aware that recently 50,000 bottles were ordered, and that only 7,000 were supplied?

Sir B. Smith

I am not aware of that, but I am aware of the acute shortage of bottles, which I am doing my best to remedy.
