HC Deb 07 November 1945 vol 415 cc1273-4
38. Mr. Leslie

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether he will issue instructions to Goosepool aerodrome to cease flying operations after 10 p.m. in order that the inhabitants of Sadberge, Fighting Cocks. Middleton-St. George and Middleton-one-Row may be allowed to have a proper night's rest.

Mr. Strachey

I am afraid I cannot do that. This is an important O.T.U. and night flying must be learnt by its pupils. But we shall make every effort to avoid disturbing the inhabitants of Sadberge, Fighting Cocks, Middleton-St. George and Middleton-one-Row.

Mr. Leslie

Does not the hon. Gentleman think that there is sufficient time for night training in the five hours before 10 o'clock without disturbing these rural villages?

Mr. Strachey

That is usually so, but occasionally weather conditions make it impossible, and we cannot make a hard and fast rule.
