§ 64. Colonel Lyonsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether his attention has been called to the need for improved and enlarged hospital accommodation for all races in Tanganyika; and what proposals he has approved for remedying this matter throughout the Territory.
§ The Under-Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs (Mr. Emrys-Evans)I have been asked to reply. Yes, Sir. Improvements of hospital accommodation, both at Dar es Salaam and elsewhere, are at present being carried out, at an approximate cost of £100,000. Further improvements will be provided for in the post-war development programme, but this is still under consideration, and my right hon. and gallant Friend is not in a position to make a statement as to the details.
§ Colonel LyonsWhilst I appreciate the reason for the absence of the Secretary of State, will my hon. Friend represent that this is a matter which should brook no delay at all, in the interests of all sections of the community.
