HC Deb 07 March 1945 vol 408 c2001
15. Mr. Martin

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, in view of the far reaching changes in political conditions resulting from the war, he will consider proposing to all parties to whom we are related by effective treaties a general review of the same, in order that they may be confirmed, revised or renounced in accordance with the exigencies of present circumstances.

Mr. Eden

No, Sir. It would be premature to propose any such general review at present.

Mr. Martin

In view of the embarrassment caused to many hon. Members and the Question that I personally directed to the right hon. Gentleman last week in the matter of policy, will he not reconsider this matter?

Mr. Eden

I am afraid that I must stick to my point. It would be premature to do so at present. This is not the only question which is concerning His Majesty's Government in the wide world.
