HC Deb 07 March 1945 vol 408 c2018
45. Sir Leonard Lyle

asked the Prime Minister which Minister is primarily responsible for the rehabilitation and development of the hotel and tourist industry in the post-war period; and how far his responsibilities in this connection extend.

Mr. Eden

Several Ministers have a responsibility in this field, including the President of the Board of Trade, the Secretary of the Department of Overseas Trade and the Minister of Labour and National Service.

Sir L. Lyle

Is this not a similar problem to the housing problem, in which, when there are four or five Ministers responsible, it is difficult to get something done?

Mr. Eden

I do not think that the analogy of my hon. Friend is at all a correct one. Certainly I should be very reluctant to see a special Minister put in charge of this matter. We have quite enough Ministers already.
