§ 32. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Cook
asked the First Lord of The Admiralty how many fishermen have been released from the Navy in order to pursue their pre-war occupations; and what qualifications are required.
Over 400 fishermen have been released up to the present. Preference is given to men with prior claims on an age and length of service basis subject to the requirements of the ports. As far as it is practicable, the men are chosen from those domiciled at the ports from which they are to be employed.
