§ 5. Mr. Bossomasked the Minister of Labour whether women who have been doing electrical work in our aircraft, tanks, etc., but are no longer required, are being directed into making electrical equipment required in post-war housing schemes.
§ Mr. BevinThere are very heavy and urgent demands for electricians in muni- 1534 tions work at the present time, and workers who have been engaged on electrical work in munitions, are in general still required for such work. Subject to the overriding demands for war production, however, I shall do what I can to supply labour for the manufacture of electrical equipment required in post-war housing schemes.
§ Mr. BossomWhile thanking my right hon. Friend for that answer, may I remind him that, during the war, women have done a magnificent job in the electrical industry, and that they could do more in the post-war period if given the opportunity?
