HC Deb 18 January 1945 vol 407 c348
46. Mr. Frankel

asked the Prime Minister whether he will consider the desirability of moving for a Select Committee to enquire into the difficulties to be surmounted in achieving a successful housing policy and programme commanding the close co-operation of all the Government departments and local authorities concerned.

The Deputy Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

No. Sir. My right hon. Friend the Minister of Reconstruction, in collaboration with the other Ministers concerned, is already actively engaged in dealing with this problem.

Mr. Frankel

Will my right hon. Friend not agree that, if the war had been prosecuted with the same diligence as the building of houses, we should have lost it long ago?

Mr. Attlee

No, Sir.
