HC Deb 18 January 1945 vol 407 c341
12. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Minister of Labour what is the policy of His Majesty's Government regarding single women who are now employed in war industry; how soon after the end of hostilities in Europe will they enjoy the right to work where they wish without direction by the State; and how soon will all women who have been directed to industry be released from State control and be free to take up domestic and private occupations.

Mr. Bevin

The Government's proposals on this matter are set out in the White Paper on Re-allocation of Manpower between Civilian Employments, Command 6568, and I cannot at present add to what is said in that Paper.
