HC Deb 17 January 1945 vol 407 c165
64. Mr. Petherick

asked the Minister of Food what was the cost of his Department's advertisement under the heading "Food Facts Puzzle Corner" in the London "Times" newspaper of 28th December, 1944.

Colonel Llewellin

Seventy-eight pounds.

Mr. Petherick

After examining the advertisement in question does not the Minister agree that it was wholly puerile and an absolute waste of the taxpayers' money?

Colonel Llewellin

I did see it, as a matter of fact, and I came prima facie to the same kind of conclusion as that of my hon. Friend; but I made inquiries when I got back to London, and I found it was an advertisement that was very generally appreciated. We had lots of evidence of that from a lot of houses up and down the country.
