HC Deb 14 February 1945 vol 408 cc224-5
62. Sir A. Beit

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he has arranged for certain naval officers to proceed to the U.S.A. and Australia to supply news of British Fleet operations in the Pacific; how many such officers are involved; and how many of their number have qualifications as journalists.

Mr. Alexander

Thirteen officers, five with journalistic qualifications, have been sent to the U.S.A. and the Pacific to assist the Press of the Commonwealth and the U.S.A. in obtaining and transmitting information on the activities of the British Pacific Fleet or to provide liaison with the U.S. Navy Department. The question of sending further staff is under consideration.
