HC Deb 13 February 1945 vol 408 c21
36. Mr. John Dugdale

asked the Secretary of State for War whether any British vehicles were among those welcomed at the recent Chinese-American ceremony at Wanting.

Sir J. Grigg

No, Sir.

Mr. Dugdale

In view of the fact that these vehicles would not have been able to enter China at all had it not been for the gallantry of the 14th Army which made entry possible, would it not have been a nice gesture if some British vehicles could have been at the assembly point?

Sir J. Grigg

Supplies to China are an American responsibility, and no doubt that is the reason.
