HC Deb 07 February 1945 vol 407 cc2058-9
24. Sir Wavell Wakefield

asked the Secretary of State for Air what percentage of the officers of the rank of squadron-leader and above in the R.A.F. Transport Command have experience of trans- portation problems by reason of previous service with shipping, railway or road organisations.

The Secretary of State for Air (Sir Archibald Sinclair)

I regret that the information asked for could not be obtained without an undue expenditure of time and labour.

Sir W. Wakefield

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in the United States Air Transport Command the high executive officers have much transport experience; and will he consider appointing in the high executive offices of the Royal Air Force Transport Command men with general transport experience?

Sir A. Sinclair

Yes, Sir, there are such men there now.
