Resolved: That for the purposes of any Act of the present Session to increase the amounts payable out of moneys provided by Parliament for the purposes of schemes under Section one of the Colonial Development and Welfare Act, 1940, and to extend the period during which certain of such schemes may continue in force, it is expedient to authorise the payment out of moneys so provided of any increase in the sums payable out of such moneys which is attributable to provisions of the said Act of the present Session substituting, for the limits imposed by the said Act of 1940 on sums to be paid out of such moneys for the purposes of such schemes, the following limits, namely,—

  1. (a) as respects any such schemes, seventeen million five hundred thousand pounds in any financial year, and one hundred and twenty million pounds in the period of ten years ending with the thirty-first day of March, nineteen hundred and fifty-six;
  2. (b) as respects schemes for promoting research or inquiry, one million pounds in any financial year,
and extending to the thirty-first day of March, nineteen hundred and fifty-six, the time during which such schemes, other than schemes for promoting research or inquiry, may continue in force."—(King's recommendation signified.)—[Colonel Stanley.]
