8. Mr. Vaneasked the Minister of Works if he is aware of the difficulties of obtaining rainwater guttering and spouting of all types in North-West England; and what steps he intends to take to improve the supply in this district of high rainfall.
§ Mr. TomlinsonYes, Sir; there is a general shortage of supplies which are controlled by licence, and North-West England is getting its fair share. The increase of supplies depends in the main on additional recruitment of labour, and my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour, is taking all possible steps to increase the labour force.
§ Mr. TomlinsonI will try.
§ Mr. TurtonAre not some of these spoutings frozen in the builders' merchants' yards, and not allowed to be used?
§ Mr. TomlinsonNot to my knowledge.
