§ 43. Mr. William Adamsasked the Minister of Labour to what extent it is the practice when listing personnel for Group B block release for the building trade to ignore those Servicemen described as general foremen.
§ Mr. IsaacsMen described as general foremen are not ignored in the selection of men for release in Class B to the building industry. The Service records do not distinguish between general foremen and carpenters' foremen, and these two occupations are therefore combined for impartial selection in age and service order up to the number required.
§ Mr. AdamsWill my right hon. Friend give further consideration to that matter, because the term "general foreman" is distinctly a building term and has a special meaning in that trade?
§ Mr. IsaacsWe have to rely upon the descriptions as they are recorded in the Service books, but I will look into it and see what can be done.
