HC Deb 17 December 1945 vol 417 cc903-4
20. Sir John Mellor

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is the average interval of time between application and provisional consent by the Registrar for the use of titles by new companies.

Sir S. Cripps

I regret to say there has been a delay of up to two months in the work of this office, owing to its location at Llandudno and the acute shortage of staff. Recently, it was arranged to bring the office back to London. Since then some of the work has been brought up to date, but a shortage of staff still persists. Every effort is being made to bring the staff up to full strength, so as to clear off arrears of work.

Lieut.-Colonel Dower

Could the right hon. and learned Gentleman say when the staff is coming to London?

Sir S. Cripps:

It has come to London.
