asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is now in a position to make a statement with regard to the granting of a licence for the proposed carpet factory at Creetown, Kirkcud brightshire.

My information is that the proposal to which the hon. Member refers has been dropped.

Is the President aware that the dropping is slightly due to the inordinate length of time it takes his Department to answer—over six weeks?

According to my information the dropping is for another reason.
