HC Deb 13 December 1945 vol 417 c592
19. Mr. G. Williams

asked the Minister of Health if he will state the number of prepared sites in the hands of private builders and of unprepared sites taken over by local authorities, with details as to the number of houses actually completed by local authorities and private firms, respectively, in the county of Kent to the present time.

Mr. Bevan

In the county of Kent there are, I understand, privately owned building sites capable of taking approximately 19,000 houses; and publicly owned building sites capable of taking approximately 25,000 houses, excluding sites earmarked for approximately 5,000 temporary houses. These sites are in various stages of development, and I am not at present in a position to give fixures of the number of houses completed.

Mr. Williams

Will the Minister tell us whether, if these sites are available, he will give the same advantage to private enterprise to enable it to put the houses up?

Mr. Bevan

That is merely repetitive.
