HC Deb 13 December 1945 vol 417 cc622-3
56. Major Conant

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has any statement to make in regard to members of the Armed Forces on indefinite release to industry; and whether he is aware that many of those who have received an unqualified written assurance that their period of re lease would count as service towards their current engagements, have been informed by their record offices that they are to remain subject to direction by the national service officer after their release group number has been demobilised.

62. Mr. Hastings

asked the Minister of Labour when and under what conditions Servicemen, released under the Essential Work Order, will be demobilised.

Mr. Isaacs

I will answer these Questions by asking the hon. Members to await a statement which I will make early next week.

Major Conant

Does the right hon. Gentleman appreciate that a large number of the men concerned. belong to release groups that have already been promulgated, and that therefore a very early statement is necessary?

Mr. Isaacs

I hope to make it very early next week.
