§ 15. Mr. John McKayasked the Minister of Health if he is aware that there are in the Longbenton urban district area a number of military camps, complete with hutments and equipped with water supply and drainage facilities, which have been unoccupied for a considerable time and in the opinion of the urban council are suitable for meeting the need for houses as a temporary measure; and what steps under these circumstances does he intend to take to get the use of these buildings to house the people in this district.
§ Mr. BevanI have been approached by the Longbenton Urban District Council about various camps in their area and I am seeing whether they can be made available. If they can, I am prepared to consider proposals for their use as temporary housing accommodation.
