HC Deb 12 December 1945 vol 417 c418
74. Mr. Palmer

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will take steps to check profiteering in Christmas toys for children.

Mr. Ellis Smith

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply given to the hon. and gallant Member for North Portsmouth (Major Bruce) on 29th October.

Mr. Palmer

Is my hon. Friend aware that toy Christmas stockings were sold in my constituency for half a crown, and are worth only 2½d., and would he hang one up at the foot of his bed to remind him to do something in this business fairly soon?

Mr. Smith

We have received few com plaints. I would like to suggest to hon. Members that when any complaints are made they should be made to the local price regulation committee, who are most eager to go into complaints of this kind.
