Miss Baconasked the Minister of Food if he is aware that in previous years an issue of canned poultry from stocks not used for military requirements, has been made available for use at Christmas to hospitals, nursing homes and institutions; and whether it is his intention to make such an issue this year.
§ Sir B. SmithI regret that supplies of canned poultry are not available to permit of such a distribution this year. I would, however, remind my hon. Friend that institutions of the type she mentions will benefit this winter from the free distribution of the large number of gifts of food which are being sent by our friends over seas.
