asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the shortage of household linen and the difficulty of replacement, he will encourage the manufacture and distribution of real linen thread suitable for repairing household linen.

Yes, Sir. There is already an allocation of flax for the manufacture of linen thread, and I hope that next year larger supplies of thread will be available for civilian use.
