HC Deb 10 December 1945 vol 417 c13
64. Mr. Lipson

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he has considered the letter sent to him from an orthopaedic surgeon drawing attention to the effect upon children's health of the poor quality of children's shoes now being sold in the Cheltenham area; and what action he proposes to take in the matter.

Sir S. Cripps

I regret that I cannot identify the letter referred to by the hon. Member; but if he will give me further details, I will look into the matter.

Mr. Lipson

Is the Minister aware that I sent that letter to him a week ago, and can he give an undertaking that the quality will be improved in view of the fact that it has a serious effect on their health?

Sir S. Cripps

The quality of children's shoes is, on the average, not inferior to what it was prewar.
