HC Deb 05 December 1945 vol 416 c2316
38. Captain Bullock

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he proposes to recognise the republic recently declared in Yugoslavia.

40. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Moore

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if His Majesty's Government have recognised or propose to recognise the constitutional changes announced as having recently taken place in Yugoslavia.

Mr. Bevin

His Majesty's Government have not yet been officially informed of these changes by the Yugoslav Government and are therefore not at present prepared to make any statement on the subject.

Sir T. Moore

Is the right hon. Gentleman satisfied that the recent elections were so conducted as faithfully to reflect the real will of the people?

Mr. Bevin

I am not asked to judge that. What I have to do is to endeavour to decide, when the matter is brought before me, whether relations should or should not be established. I do not propose to enter into that in answer to a question.
