HC Deb 05 December 1945 vol 416 c2325
57. Mr. Coldrick

asked the Minister of Food if his attention has been called to the almost complete clearing out of stocks of prunes and if he will consider a resumption of imports of prunes, dried peaches and dried apricots, having in mind the desirability of providing house- wives with some kind of fruit to serve as sweets during the winter months.

Sir B. Smith

A limited allocation of dried apricots was made last month. Prunes have not been available in significant quantities since April of this year, but if present expectations are realised, shipments of prunes should be arriving to allow of a resumption of distribution in March or April of next year.
