HC Deb 03 December 1945 vol 416 cc1904-5
42. Lieut.-Colonel Sir Thomas Moore

asked the Minister of Supply and of Aircraft Production what quantities of rubber and tin have been purchased in Malaya and shipped to this country respectively since the re-occupation of that territory; and who will receive the money paid for these stocks.

Mr. Wilmot

No purchases of tin have yet been reported, but I am informed by my right hon. and learned Friend the President of the Board of Trade that 24,311 tons of rubber have been purchased in Malaya, of which 16,484 tons have been shipped to the United Kingdom. These purchases have been made from the Custodian of Enemy Property in Malaya, in whom are vested the stocks found there and settlement will be made with him.
