HC Deb 22 August 1945 vol 413 c605
46. Major Guy Lloyd

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government to set up a Royal Commission to inquire into the whole question of the basis of war pensions, with a view to a complete revision of the Royal Warrant.

The Prime Minister (Mr. Attlee)

The hon. and gallant Member's proposal will be carefully considered by His Majesty's Government but I am not at present in a position to anticipate its decision.

Major Lloyd

While appreciating the right hon. Gentleman's answer, is he aware that there is very strong feeling in the Services that something of the kind is badly needed now that the war is over?

The Prime Minister

I will certainly take into consideration all expressions of opinion.
