HC Deb 22 August 1945 vol 413 c600
23. Mr. Lipson

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air what leave is allowed to men in the British Air Force of Occupation.

Mr. Strachey

Men of the British Air Forces of Occupation are eligible for nine days' leave to this country every six months plus two days' travelling time. In addition they can apply for seven days' leave every six months to be spent in specified places on the Continent. Or they can take the whole eighteen days' leave on the Continent.

Mr. Lipson

May I ask whether the majority of the men are getting the leave to which they are entitled, for my information is that they are not?

Mr. Strachey

There was delay undoubtedly, but the improvement is very great, and I think the problem will be largely solved.
