§ 54. Sir Patrick Hannonasked the Lord President of the Council if he will present a White Paper to the House embodying a general outline of the measures adopted or contemplated for the prosecution of scientific research with special reference to investigation, with the object of the restoration of our export trade.
§ The Lord President of the Council (Mr. Herbert Morrison)The Government are fully aware of the need for promoting the application of science in industry. The attention of the export industries has already been drawn to the facilities offered by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. I do not propose to publish a White Paper at this stage, but the hon. Member can rest assured that Parliament will be kept informed of any developments in the Government's policy.
