HC Deb 22 August 1945 vol 413 cc612-3
60. Mr. Douglas

asked the Minister of Food what percentage of the flour now being used in this country is imported; and what percentage of the wheat grain is contained in imported flour.

Sir B. Smith

Approximately 15 per cent. of the flour being used in this country is imported flour. The bulk of this is Canadian flour of which the extrac- tion from wheat is about 75 per cent. Occasionally other imported flours are used and in these cases the extraction varies between 70 and 75 per cent.
