HC Deb 26 September 1944 vol 403 c2
Mr. Speaker

I have the honour to communicate to the House the following message which the Grand National Assembly of Turkey decided, at its Session on August 2nd, 1944, to address to the British Parliament: The Grand National Assembly of Turkey deems itself happy to address to the British Parliament its friendly greetings at the moment when the Turkish nation, which is sincerely attached to the cause of the liberty and independence of peoples, and which since the beginning of the war has remained faithful to its alliance with Great Britain, has assumed a more effective position at the side of its Ally, by breaking off its economic and diplomatic relations with Germany.

ABDULHALIK RENDA,

President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey."
