HC Deb 26 September 1944 vol 403 c4
3. Wing-Commander James

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the importance and gravity of the position disclosed and the recommendations that it makes, he will publish the Palache Report upon the condition of the British Film Industry as a White Paper.

2. Colonel Burton

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has considered a recent Report from the Cinematograph Films Council; and what action he proposes to take in connection with the recommendations in such Report.

Mr. Dalton

This Report was published on 8th September by His Majesty's Stationery Office, and copies are available in the Vote Office. In accordance with the suggestion made to me by the Films Council, I have, in the first instance, invited the various sections of the film industry to let me have their views on the report.

Wing-Commander James

In view of the disquiet which this Report must cause, can my right hon. Friend say when he expects the promised Debate?

Mr. Dalton

That is a matter to be pursued through the usual channels. I think I had better get the observations of the industry first.
