HC Deb 25 October 1944 vol 404 cc162-3
46. Mr. Turton

asked the Prime Minister when a successor to Lord Swinton as Minister-Resident in West Africa will be appointed; and who is, in the meantime, carrying out the duties of that office.

The Prime Minister

I am not yet in a position to state the name of the new Minister, but there will be no undue delay. The senior Governor will preside at any War Council or other meeting that may be necessary. He will be assisted by the Resident Minister's secretariat in discharging the day-to-day work of the office.
