HC Deb 24 October 1944 vol 404 c30
68. Mr. Quintin Hogg

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, in view of the increased supplies of rubber, he will increase the allotment for the provision of surgical gloves.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Production (Mr. Garro Jones)

I have been asked to reply. Surgical gloves have to be made partly of natural rubber, supplies of which have not increased. I understand from my right hon. Friend the Minister of Supply, who is responsible for the production of these gloves, that he is not aware of any substantial volume of complaint that supplies are insufficient to meet essential civil needs.
